BMW only offers one diesel model in the United States, but a new report is indicating the company will soon begin selling a 735d or 740d in America.

Car and Driver says the model will feature a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine that could produce 265 hp (198 kW / 269 PS) and 425 lb-ft (576 Nm) of torque or 308 hp (230 kW / 312 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.

In related news, the magazine is reporting that BMW executives wanted to offer the M550d in the United States but the model's lifecycle was too short to justify the emissions-compliance costs.
