Volvo is reportedly considering a C90 coupe which would compete with the Audi A5, BMW 4-Series and Mercedes E-Class coupes.

Details are limited, but Inside Line is reporting the model would ride on the Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) and likely be based on the next-generation S60. Power would be provided by the company's VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture) four-cylinder engines and possibly a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

While the car hasn't been approved for production, there is speculation that it could spawn a convertible variant. This seems logical since the C70 is slated to go out of production in 2013.
