Drivers who like to shift their own gears will be glad to know a new report is indicating the BMW M6 coupe and convertible will be offered with a six-speed manual.

According to Car & Driver, the gearbox could be offered as early as 2013 or 2014. It remains unclear if the transmission will be offered in Europe, but U.S. demand recently forced the automaker to offer a six-speed manual on American-bound M5s.

As we have previously reported, the M6 features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with 560 PS (412 kW / 552 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. When connected to a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission, the coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds while the convertible accomplishes the same task in 4.3 seconds.
