BMW has unveiled the Zagato coupe concept, ahead of its debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

Jointly-developed with the Italian coachbuilder, the bespoke model was created under the "Vmax concept" of building of a road-going vehicle that has been aerodynamically optimized to be driven at high speeds.

As such, it features a handcrafted aluminum body with a long hood, a double bubble roof and muscular fenders. There's also a distinctive rear end with a transparent panel, a rear diffuser and a dual exhaust system. Lastly, the car is finished in exclusive Rosso Vivace paint and rides on a 19-inch alloy wheels.

Interior changes are limited, but the cabin has been equipped with premium leather upholstery, red contrast stitching and embroidered headrests.

Performance specifications weren't released, but BMW says the model uses a "high-performance engine." That's a little vague, but it appears to be connected to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
