The surprise announcement was made by Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick who said "We understand the reach the Super Bowl provides, but with the significant increase in price, we simply can't justify the expense."
Ewanick declined to elaborate, but rumors suggest CBS is charging approximately $4 (€3.1 / £2.5) million for each 30 second spot. Regardless of whether or not this is correct, it's interesting that GM is pulling out entirely.
