The first rumors arrived on the internet last week speculating that the upcoming Jaguar F-Type will be available with a V8 engine and now we hear it is official via a report by Carscoop.

The engine in question is the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 unit that is already in employed in the XFR, XJ, XKR and XKR-S. Power output of the existing unit varies from 510PS (375kW/503hp) to 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp) which gives us an indication of what to expect from the range topping F-Type.

Officials also confirmed recently that the 2-seater roadster will also receive the company's 3.0-liter V6 unit with either 380PS (279kW / 375hp) or 340PS (250kW / 335hp) in reserve.

Expect to see the Jaguar F-Type arrive in showrooms in 2013.
