The model has previously appeared in Detroit and Dubai following its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year.

Maserati is currently displaying the Kubang crossover SUV concept at the Beijing Motor Show and the Italian brand has confirmed this will be its final public appearance on the auto show circuit. "After Beijing, we will retire the Kubang concept," commented Maserati CEO Harald Wester. "Our SUV will reappear in its production form and with its final name in due time."

The exact date and location of the launch is currently unknown, but word on the street suggest it will occur in Detroit in January 2014.

The success of rivals such as the Porsche Cayenne has fed Maserati's desire to enter the market the Luxury SUV market. It is a far cry from the sports cars that we are used to seeing and it remains to be seen how fans will react to the diversity.
