A prototype for the next generation Maserati Quattroporte made its first appearance on the Nurburgring just last week when it was undergoing some high-speed testing. Now we bring you the first video while it was taking it a little easier in the same area.

The new Quattroporte rides on a new lightweight platform that will knock a few pounds off the kerb weight. It has been designed for both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.

Although the Quattroporte will primarily report for duty with a powerful V8 engine, a hybrid will also be available. The V8 in question will be a 4.7-liter unit that generates around 475 PS (354 kW / 469 bhp) and it will pass the power to the wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission system.
