Ford has unveiled the 2013 Explorer Sport, ahead of its launch this fall.
Described as a "no compromise" crossover, the model is distinguished by a revised front fascia, gloss black trim, tinted lighting units and unique 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin is nicely equipped with black leather seats, "technical look" trim and illuminated scuff plates. There's also a dual-zone climate control system, a MyFord Touch infotainment system and a Sony audio system.
Power is provided by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with at least 350 hp (261 kW / 355 PS). It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system. This should enable the model to return an estimated 16 mpg city / 22 mpg highway (US).
On the handling front, the crossover benefits from a reinforced chassis, enlarged brakes and a revised terrain management system with settings for snow, sand and mud.
