Subaru has announced the North American debut for the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek will take place at the New York Auto Show next month.

Since first unveiled as a production model at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show, it has been known the XV would finally make its way to the U.S. in the third quarter of this year.

The XV Crosstrek is essentially a Subaru Impreza that has crossover-inspired styling with plastic body cladding, aluminum wheels and an increased ride height giving 220mm (8.7 inch) of clearance.

Powered solely by a 2.0-liter boxer engine producing 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS), the XV Crosstrek comes standrd with all-wheel drive with either a five-speed manual or CVT transmissions.

Fuel economy figures are 25 mpg city / 33 mpg highway / 28 mpg combined (manuf est). The XV Crosstrek uses a 15.9-gallon fuel tank which is 1.4 gallons larger than that the standard Impreza models.
