The baby version of the Mercedes CLS had fallen off the radar recently. The last time it had surfaced was in the summer of 2011, with very little known about the launch and development. We can now show you evidence that proves the new CLA-class will see the light of day in the form of a new undercover spy video caught by one of our army of photographers.

Mercedes' MFA platform provides the basis of the model, it is the same platform that also underpins the brand new 2013 A-class. With this in mind, we should expect to see a similar engine line-up with the broad ranging diesel and petrol units. The most powerful of which is a petroleum fueled engine that generates 211 PS (155 kW / 208 hp).

Mercedes are likely to give the A-class range priority in the launch schedule, therefore we shouldn't expect to see the CLA in production form before 2013 as a 2014 model.
