The Jaguar XF just got interesting with the introduction of a wagon variant called the Sportbrake. It appears sportier and more sleek than its sedan counterpart.
Unveiled in Geneva this week, live photos plus some official video footage with Jaguar's Design Director, Ian Callum and Studio Director Wayne Burgess give us our first real views of the vehicle's new dimensions and presence. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis about the design principles and approach to the Sportbrake is explained.
In further explaining the sporty design, Jaguar Studio Director Wayne Burgess explains, "There is a faily high roofline by necessity, but because of the rising waistline, it still gives the impression of this tapering side window so the car still looks low and lean." This is precisely why Jaguar chose to include the word "sport" in the vehicle's name.
The XF Sportbrake features a cargo area of 1,675 liters and a weight increase of just under 70kg. Despite this, the dimensions are virtually unchanged compared with its sedan sibling with a length increase of just 5mm.
Diesel engines will bless the XF Sportbrake line, including 2.2-liter four cylinder and 3.0-litre six-cylinder units. Both of which are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive system.
