German tuning company Irmscher has released, ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut next month, first images and details of their Opel Insignia ST Cross4 design study.

Validating previously leaked images, the Insignia ST Cross4 potentialy targets Audi's A4 allroad and VW's Passat alltrack cross variants. However, as an officially sanctioned Opel tuner, it's not clear if Irmscher is representing the Insignia ST Cross4 as a potential aftersales upgrade package, or something that could eventually be launched as a factory trim package.

They call it a design study with individual parts available for order, but then describe the Cross4 name as being representative of its all-wheel-drive nature. Therefore, if the Cross4 package is only available on all-wheel-drive models, which was also reported in the leaked photos, then it must be a factory trim package?

Either way, the Cross4 package features a contrasting gray body kit which consists of faux front and rear skid plates on the bumper fascias, wheel opening moldings and side skirts. Elsewhere, there is a honeycomb grille, new headlight eyebrow covers, integrated roof spoiler and quad tipped stainless steel muffler.

Also available for the Cross4 package are newly developed light-alloy wheels Turbo Star and Silver Star Silver Evo in 8.5 x 20. There are also 30mm body lowering springs and a four-piston sports braking system.
