The Infiniti brand currently has three or four proposals on the table for a new top of the range model. He also confirmed one of these is a GT-R based sports car.

It has long been rumored that the platform for the Nissan GT-R will eventually be shared out to their Infiniti sister brand. After waiting quite a few years, you could be wondering if it was ever going to happen, but now it appears the initial stages of development have begun if a report by Car Magazine proves to be correct.

According to Francois Bancon, head of advanced planning for Infiniti in Tokyo, the Infiniti brand currently has three or four proposals on the table for a new top of the range model. He also confirmed one of these is a GT-R based sports car.

The GT-R is a no holds barred sports car and despite a fairly modest price, Nissan has achieved super car performance. However, if an Infiniti version does get approved for production, we will be looking at softer version of the GT-R. Furthermore, Infiniti would wait until at least 2015 to launch the model following the release of the planned "smaller Infiniti".
