Jeep was scheduled to introduce an entry-level crossover - codenamed the B-SUV - in 2013, but those plans are in jeopardy as Fiat has reportedly put the model on the backburner.

Automotive News says Fiat is desperate to get a Sedici replacement into production as soon as possible to combat sagging sales. In order to speed things up, the company will reportedly delay the entry-level Jeep (which will slot below the Compass and Patriot) until the second quarter of 2014.

Little is known about the vehicles, but both are slated offer all-wheel drive and ride on the new Small Wide platform that underpins the 2013 Fiat 500L. The models will be built at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Italy and the Jeep will be offered globally.
