Known internally as the Compact Activity Tourer, the new 1 GT will sport a high roofline, with raised seating positions for occupants. Upon launch, it will battle against the Mercedes B-Class which is also currently in its development stages.

We caught the first shots of a BMW 1-Series GT prototype testing recently, it was the first confirmed evidence of the long rumored model following a couple of years of speculation. We can now report that the model will be heading for the Paris Motor Show in September according to sources unearthed by BMWBlog.

The recent prototypes were caught testing a front-wheel-drive system that has been sourced from BMW's sister brand MINI. It will be powered by three-and four cylinder engines and there are also hybrid and xDrive versions in the pipeline as well.
