Tuning company B&B from Siegen, Germany has developed several engine upgrade kits for the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.

At the top of the range, the 2.0 TFSI engine, which in standard specification produces 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft), has an increased power output in five stages:

  • 236 hp (240 PS / 177 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque
  • 247 hp (250 PS / 184 kW)
  • 261 hp (265 PS / 195 kW)
  • 291 hp (295 PS / 217 kW)
  • 316 hp (320 PS / 235 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque

For stage 5 which includes a B&B turbocharger, charge air cooler and full sport exhaust including downpipe and sport catalytic converter, the result is a 0-62 mph time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) for a price of €8950.

For the Beetle 1.4 TSI with 158 bhp (118 kW / 160 PS), the stage 1 ECU upgrade costs €998 and takes power up to 207 hp (154 kW / 210 PS) and 136 lb-ft (285 Nm) of torque. Stage 2 which costs €1498 goes a little high to 221 hp (165 kW / 225 PS) and 228 lb-ft (310 Nm). Stage 3 is a bit more comprehensive with a modified turbocharger, new air intake and sport exhaust system all contributing to redcued thermal load of the engine boosting reliability. Output rises to 237 hp (176 kW / 240 PS) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm). The stage 3 kit costs €5950.

Other upgrades available include a high performance brake system for €3795 and 19 to 20-inch wheels.
