2011 was a bad year for Lexus. Sales were down and they lost their spot at the top of the premium cars sales league. Therefore 2012 is the year of their comeback, and it all starts with the debut of their first-ever commercial for Super Bowl XLVI. The 30 second commercial is due to run during the first half of the game and to raise a little extra awareness ahead of the Super Bowl, here is a quick sneak peak.

“This is a big year for Lexus as we introduce nine new or updated models, and the Super Bowl provides us with an equally big opportunity to reach a highly engaged audience of 50 million people,” said Brian Smith, Lexus vice president of marketing. “The star of our commercial is the all-new 2013 GS which launches in February and kicks off a pivotal era for the Lexus brand. The spot also will convey that even more products are waiting in the wings and are anxious to hit the road.”

Lexus has also teamed up with NBCSports.com to create a new socially fuelled game called TweetDrive. Fan's knowledge of the game is tested to the limit with a range of trivia questions which allows them to gain yardage to eventually score a touchdown.
