BMW has released a new promotional video for their M Performance Automobiles sub-brand.

In the clip, BMW M GmbH President Dr Friedrich Nitschke explains the brand will follow in the footsteps of the BMW M535i from the 1980s. He also contends the models will be targeted at customers looking for "more emotionality and more performance, but don't want to lose the everyday usability of their cars."

While critics have complained the vehicles will just have an M Sport package and added horsepower, Nitschke says they will "benefit from the full expertise of BMW GmbH; infusing power transfer with excellent dynamics."

The first models are expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show and the BMW M550d xDrive could be launched in March.
