Bentley has debuted for the first time in public the 2013 Bentley Contintental GT & GTC V8 models at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Bentley does not specify fuel consumption figures but says the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine achieves a 40 percent reduction in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions compared to the flagship 6.0-liter W12 model. This allows the V8 Continentals to travel over 500 miles (800 km) on a single tank of fuel.

The twin-turbo V8 already seen in Audi models delivers maximum power of 500 bhp (507 PS / 373 kW) at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 660Nm (487 lb ft). The new GT and GTC V8 models can accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 188mph (303 km/h).

Exterior stylings distinguishing the V8 models include glossy black grille with chrome frame and centre bar, a red enamel Bentley ‘B' badge, and a black mesh three-segment front bumper fascia. At the rear, there are chrome ‘figure eight' exhaust tailpipes, a dark lower valance and red enamel ‘B' bootlid badge.

Interior alsos receives some changes in the form of Eliade cloth headlining, Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus veneers, optional two-tone leather and short center console.

Pricing for the Continental GT V8 Coupe starts at £123,850 in the UK and €136,000 in Europe. No pricing has been announced yet for North America. See press release below for pricing in China, Japan and the Middle East.
