In a recent interview, Fiat Engineering chief Mauro Pierallini revealed some new details about the 2013 Alfa Romeo 4C.

Speaking with Top Gear, Pierallini said the production model will have a new carbon fiber tub with aluminum front and rear sub-frames. The carbon fiber body will also be axed, but the model is targeted to weigh 900 kg (1,985 lbs).

Power will reportedly come from a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 230 hp (172 kW / 233 PS). It will be connected to a dual-clutch transmission which could enable the coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

Production is targeted at 18,000 units overall and pricing is expected to start at less than £45,000 ($69,885 / €53,670).
