Lotus' U.S. lineup has been pretty sparse since the Elise and Exige were banished when the smart-airbag exemption expired, but a new report says the 2012 Exige S will be offered in America as a track-only model.

According to the duPont Registry, the car will come equipped with racing seats, a full roll cage and an electrical cut-off switch. The publication also says we can expect a three-mode Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) system and a race package with a sportier suspension and launch control.

Power will be provided by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 hp). It will reportedly enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h).

If everything pans out, the Exige S could be priced from $85,000 to $90,000.
