Mitsubishi has taken the wraps off the Concept PX-MiEV II.
Essentially an updated version of the original PX-MiEV concept, the crossover has a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two 60 kW (80 hp / 81 PS) electric motors.
At low speeds, the vehicle operates in EV mode for up to 50 km (31 miles). When the battery is low, the crossover enters a Series Hybrid Mode which activates the petrol engine to recharge the battery. At highway speeds, the PX-MiEV II enters a Parallel Hybrid Mode where the petrol engine and electric motors work together.
Thanks to the advanced technology, Mitsubishi estimates the PX-MiEV II would have a combined fuel consumption of 60 km/liter (1.7 liters/100km / 141.1 mpg US / 169.5 mpg UK) and an overall range of 800 km (497 miles).
