In a recent interview, Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller revealed the company's decision to green-light an entry-level roadster depends on the global economy recovery.

Speaking with the Financial Times Deutschland, Mueller commented "The financial crisis is real and we need to see how far it develops." He added, if it "... leads to a cooling of the auto industry, then this would certainly impact our strategy."

Mueller indicated a decision could be made later this year or delayed until 2012. If the car is approved for production, it could be launched as soon as the third quarter of 2014.
