Volvo has announced plans to cease production of the C70 and close their plant in Uddevalla, Sweden in 2013.

Citing a low ouput of just 10,000 units in 2010, CEO Stefan Jacoby commented "The Uddevalla plant delivers cars with a very high quality. However, a car manufacturer of Volvo's size can not, from a financial standpoint, justify a plant that manufactures one single model in the low volumes we have today."

While this is sad news, the plant's 600 employees will be offered positions at other Volvo locations in Sweden.
