In Europe, the 458 with the folding hard-top roof will sell for €226,800 with sales beginning next month.
In the United States, the 458 Spider will be priced at $257,000 and goes on sale starting in January 2012.
Given the current exchange rate (1 euro = 1.35 US dollars), American buyers are getting a discount of around $47,000 compared to their European counterparts.
The 458 Spider features an aluminum folding hard-top roof by German supplier Webasto AG, which also makes the roof for the California cabriolet. It's one of the few retractable hard-top roofs in a rear-engine car and can be deployed or folded back in 14 seconds.
The 458 Spider is powered by the same 4.5 liter V8 unit from the 458 Italia coupe with an output of 570 PS (425 kW / 563 bhp) and 540 Nm of torque (398 lb-ft).
