Range Rover Evoque headed to Dakar with BMW power

BMW's divorce from Land Rover might have been premature, but Britain's Excite Rally Raid Team is bringing them back together for the Dakar Rally.

Made by RaBe Race Cars, the purpose-built vehicles feature a tubular chassis, a Range Rover Evoque body and a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter diesel engine with 275 hp (205 kW / 271 PS) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. Other highlights include a ZF transmission, a Reiger coil-over suspension and 16-inch wheels with BF Goodrich desert racing tires.

Three models will be constructed and they will be driven by Martin Rowe, Andrew Coley and John Hardy.
