The Mitsubishi Diamante has been gone for nearly seven years, but a new report is indicating a successor will be launched in 2012.

According to Automotive News, a recently signed agreement will allow the company to sell a rebadged version of the Infiniti M (aka Nissan Fuga). Little else is known about it, but car will apparently be restricted to Japan only.

In exchange, Nissan is looking at getting a version of the Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV but the specifics still need to be hammered out.
