Smart is taking a look into the future with their latest ForVision concept.
Jointly developed with BASF, the car is a technological marvel of lightweight design and advanced technology. Case in point, the roof has transparent organic solar cells which can "generate enough energy to power the multimedia components" "even in poor lighting conditions. Furthermore, the cells have organic light-emitting diodes which illuminate the interior when a door is opened.
Other highlights include plastic wheels (which weigh just 3 kilograms / 6.6 pounds), carbon-fiber-reinforced epoxy resin doors, plastic seats (with lightweight cushions and integrated heating/cooling elements) and infrared-reflecting film on the windows to keep the interior cool in direct sunlight.
Performance specifications weren't released, but the powertrain is likely carried over from the ForTwo Electric Drive.
