At first glance this Opel Meriva Mule appears to be nothing special – wearing a shortened Zafira body married to the new Meriva’s underpinnings, but on closer inspection we get to see what lies beneath.

At first glance this Opel Meriva Mule appears to be nothing special – wearing a shortened Zafira body with some heavy disguising on the rear half of the car, but on closer inspection we get to see what lies beneath. It turns out Opel had every reason to disguise this mule because our vigilant spy photographer managed to get shots of the interior of what appears to be hinge mounting locations on both rear door shell and C-pillar for "coach doors" (a.k.a suicide doors). This is the first time an Opel has featured coach doors since the third generation Kapitan which ended production in 1953.

The new Meriva is set to arrive in dealers in the summer of 2009
