The Cadillac Converj concept was a surprise hit at the 2009 North American International Auto Show and a new report is indicating the model has been approved for production.

Citing a source familiar with the matter, Green Car Reports says the model will likely be launched in 2013 with an upgraded Voltec powertrian that would offer better performance and efficiency than the Chevrolet Volt / Opel Ampera.

As we have previously reported, Bob Lutz told reporters the Converj was approved for production last January but GM eventually reversed that decision.
