German tuner has a luxury kit for the GL that includes widening wheel arches, suspension lowering and various power boosts.
German tuner Carlsson has unveiled the CGL45 Carlsson based on the Mercedes-Benz GL Grand Edition ahead of the model's Frankfurt introduction.
The wide-body CGL45 comes with flared wheel arches, a new front spoiler and a chrome grille with a prancing horse badge replacing the Mercedes logo. LED daytimers are integrated into the front spoiler lip while at the back is a new rear apron made to be fitted with the quad-pipes (oval) from the stainless-exhaust.
An engine tuning on the 3.0 liter V6 diesel dials power up to 310 PS (228 kW / 306 bhp) and 700 Nm of torque (516 lb-ft) from the series 265 PS (195 kW / 261 bhp) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft).
For the range-topping GL 500, the V8 engine is boosted to deliver 435 PS (320 kW / 430 bhp) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft).
An intelligent suspension-lowering system decreases the ride height of the GL by 30 mm. Wheels on offer are the 22-inch rims in a 1/5 Brilliant Edition-design wrapped in 305/35ZR22 high-performance tires.
The new interior finish includes a leather and Alcantara upholstery complimented by wood or stainless-steel trims, aluminum foot pedals as well as Carlsson-badged door sills and the tuner's logo on the headrests.
