Our spies have managed to catch the 2013 Opel/Vauxhall Astra Cabriolet undergoing testing with the roof down.

The prototype features a slightly upward-sweeping shoulder line and fully framed front doors which are clearly not production ready. Also looking a bit shoddy is the roll bar which appears to be put together with bolts and duct tape. The roof is folded down, but previous reports have indicated the model will be offered with a soft top. If true, the canvas roof should ensure the car is lighter and more fuel efficient than a hard-top variant.

Additional information is limited, but the convertible is expected to be available with a variety of engines and have a sport-tuned suspension that mimics the setup on the Astra GTC.

Regardless of the final specifications, the production model is slated to be launched in late 2012.
