Our spies have caught the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 undergoing testing at the Nurburgring. Details are limited, but the prototype features a massive intercooler which implies the car will likely receive a performance boost.
With the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 slated to hit dealerships early next year, Ford is developing a revised Shelby GT500 to fend off the newcomer.
Caught undergoing testing at the Nürburgring, the prototype features a massive intercooler which implies the car will receive a performance boost. Nothing is official, but previous reports have indicated the car will adopt a new supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine with up to 620 hp (462 kW / 629 PS). If this is correct, the 2013 Shelby GT500 will have 70 hp (52 kW / 71 PS) more than the current model.
Additional information is limited, but there doesn't appear to be any major styling changes. However, that could change by the time the model is introduced sometime next year.
