According to a recent report, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler will be offered with a new 3.6-liter V6 that produces 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.
The Jeep Wrangler just received a facelift for 2011, but that doesn't mean the upgrades are over.
According to the Toledo Blade, the 2012 model will be offered with the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. For comparison, the current 3.8-liter V6 only develops 202 hp (151 kW / 205 PS) and 237 lb-ft (321 Nm) of torque.
Besides the new engine, the 2012 Wrangler will also be offered with a five-speed automatic transmission. While that doesn't sound terribly impressive, the new gearbox should have better fuel efficiency than the archaic four-speed unit.
