GM has announced plans to build the next-generation Chevrolet Impala at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.
Details are limited, but the car will be built alongside the Chevrolet Volt, Opel / Vauxhall Ampera and 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The latter vehicle seems to imply that the next-generation Impala will ride on the front-wheel drive Epsilon II platform.
Regardless of the final details, GM will invest $69 million into the plant to gear up for production of the new Impala.
