Chevrolet has released new information about the 3.6-liter V6 engine that will debut in 2012 Camaro.
Designed to be more powerful and fuel efficient, the LFX engine adopts an integrated exhaust manifold that "replaces a cast iron exhaust manifold, six bolts, a gasket and a heat shield and three bolts." Thanks to this change, the potential for a gasket failure is eliminated and the engine's weight is reduced by 13 lbs (6 kg).
All told, the new V6 produces 323 hp (241 kW / 327 PS) which is 11 hp (8 kW / 11 PS) more than the previous engine. Despite the increase in power, the Camaro V6 carries an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 30 mpg highway.
