The 2008 Chevy Tahoe covers all of the bases, from “economical” hybrid to the new high-powered 380hp (283 kW), which is 60hp more than the 5.3-liter LTZ 2007 model. As the most powerful Tahoe, the LTZ attributes its output to the Vortec 6.2-liter small-block V8 also found in the GMC Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade, but for a better price tag. The LTZ gets a “fuel-saving” Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD six-speed automatic transmission which includes “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter. GM doesn't provide a 0-60mph time, but surely with a curb weight of 5245 lbs. and towing capacity of 7,900 pounds (3,583 kg), perhaps it's not the most important specification.
