Mitsubishi has announced plans to end Eclipse production after the 2012 model year. While this is sad news, the company is commemorating the event by introducing a special edition trim package.

Offered on the coupe and spyder, the SE is distinguished by HID headlights, black side mirrors, exclusive badging and unique 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin is outfitted with heated leather front seats, Bluetooth connectivity and a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system.

Under the hood, two engines will be available. The entry-level 2.4-liter four-cylinder produces 162 hp (121 kW / 164 PS) and 162 lb-ft (219 Nm) of torque, while the 3.8-liter V6 develops 265 hp (198 kW / 269 PS) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque.

No word on pricing, but the Eclipse SE will start arriving at U.S. dealerships later this year.
