Following yesterday's 2012 BMW M5 Concept leaked photos, here are the first official photos and a couple of videos showing the unveiling.

Held at a closed media event in Munich for invited journalists only, we can see a little bit of the pre-reveal video presentation which is strangely edited to the shagging song "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Looking closely, you'll see the windows are blacked out as the interior is not yet finished.

BMW's M Division also revealed several stillborn M projects as well as other unique one-offs such as the M3 pickup.

BMW has yet to release details but so far we know it will be equipped with a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology (aka 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the X5/X6 M SAVs), 7-speed DCT Drivelogic double clutch gearbox and active cooling systems.

The M5 will have its public debut at Auto Shanghai on April 19.

[UPDATE] Official video and press release added. Main details still withheld but still some good tid bits.
