With the Geneva Motor Show winding down, BMW has released the first teaser video of the 2012 M5.

While there isn't much to see - since the video is dark and the car is camouflaged (still) - the production model will have an aggressive front fascia, ventilated fenders, and a sporty rear diffuser.

Inside, the cabin will borrow heavily from the standard 5-Series but the high performance variant will be distinguished by a revised instrument cluster, an Alcantara headliner, and plenty of M badging.

As we have previously reported, the M5 will likely be powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine from the X5 M / X6 M. It produces 555 PS (408 kW / 547 hp) in the crossovers, but the sedan is rumored to get approximately 600 PS (441 kW / 592 hp).

The M5 is expected to be teased in concept form at the Shanghai Auto Show, before being officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
