New Club Racer edition of the Lotus Elise drops some more weight and comes with bespoke finish offerings.

Lotus has done a little more weigh-reduction work on the Elise model to create this new Elise Club Racer edition.

The 876 kg (1,930 lb) Elise is lightened by an additional 24 kg for this Club Racer by means of a lightweight battery and the removal of noise insulation material.

To improve the performance of the Elise to suit the Club Racer moniker, Lotus has equipped the car with a new Sport setting for the DPM system (Dynamic Performance Management) that works with the new sport suspension and adjustable anti-roll bar for greater agility on both the road and track.

Powering the Elise Club Racer is the same 1.6-liter four cylinder VVT-I engine with an output of 136 PS (100 kW / 134 hp) as on the series' variant. Lotus did not provide new performance numbers for the Club Racer but the standard Elise does the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 6.5 seconds, which the Club Racer can only beat, if but slightly.

More impressive will be the fuel-economy rating, which the standard Lotus Elise boasting the best numbers in the business for the kind of performance it offers with CO2 emissions of just 149 g/km and consumption of a little over 5 liters/100 km on the extra-urban cycle.

For that new sport suspension are Eibach springs and a set of Bilstein dampers.

The Lotus Elise Club Racer will be available in a choice of six colors - Sky Blue, Saffron Yellow, Ardent Red, Aspen White, Matt Black and Carbon Gray with additional bespoke design features to give the car a more individual character.

Prices for the Lotus Elise Club Racer will start at £27,500 / €34,450 / CHF48,900 (Switzerland).
