Compact hatch caught cold-weather testing in Europe still wearing camouflage but less so than the last time.
Here are the latest spy shots of the next-generation Kia Picanto caught doing some winter testing in Europe.
The car is still camouflaged, although, less so than the last time it was spotted near the Nürburgring. We can begin to see its Euro-like styling taking shape.
The 2012 Picanto is spotted here wearing German plates and the model was designed in Germany by Kia's team in Russelsheim. The Korean automaker, along with sister brand Hyundai, has begun developing models in Europe so that its products can be more competitive with the likes of VW, Opel, Renault, Ford of Europe and the rest of the stiff competition Kia faces there, especially in the various hatchback segments.
The next Kia Picanto will come with the same 1.2 liter Kappa engine as in the Hyundai i10 as the two models share the same platform. It will come in both 3- and 5-door hatchback bodystyles. A 1.0-liter, three-cylinder with 69 PS (51 kW / 68 bhp) recently announced for the i10 may also make it to the Picanto.
The 2012 Kia Picanto will likely be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
