First commercial for the Fiat 500 in the United States market tries to appeal to consumers' "passion" while being light on details.

Here's a full length version of Fiat's first commercial for the 500 model in the United States.

The ad is long on mood and feel-good platitudes about embracing life with "passion" and short on details or building any anticipation for the 500 itself.

The video contains only a few seconds of a white 500 driving on an American road. Fiat doesn't show the practical capabilities of the car nor how well a nimble little hatch can handle.

Given that the 500 is a big launch, marking the re-entry of Fiat into the United States market, the ad may seem a little underwhelming for some.

The Fiat 500 will arrive in US showrooms next spring. It will come in three trim levels - Pop, Sport and Lounge - all powered by the same 1.4 liter MultiAir engine with 102 PS (75 kW / 101 bhp) and 133 Nm (98 lb-ft) of torque. Gearbox options are a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic which Fiat has developed solely for the North American 500.

Prices will start at $15,500 - $4,600 less than the MINI Cooper.
