Mitsubishi has announced plans to launch a production a plug-in hybrid crossover in 2013. It will likely mimic the Px-MiEV concept which debuted at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.
Yoshikazu Nakamura, the head of Mitsubishi's electric vehicle unit, has announced the company will launch a plug-in hybrid crossover in 2013.
Information is scarce, but Auto Week is reporting the model will draw inspiration from the Px-MiEV concept which debuted at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.
As we have previously reported, the Px-MiEV used an 85 kW (116 PS / 114 hp) 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that produced 60 kW (82 PS / 80 hp) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque. It could travel up on 30 miles (48 km) on electricity alone, which helped to give the crossover an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 2.0 l/100km (117 mpg US).
