DS4 Racing will come with a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine with 200 PS (147 kW) and a 95 PS (70 kW) electric motor on the rear axle for an all-wheel drive sport model with a total of 295 PS (217 kW).

French automaker Citroën is planning a hybridized DS4 Racing model, according to German car magazine Auto Bild.

After the DS4's unveiling at the Paris auto show a few weeks ago, Citroën did promise that there were more DS-line models coming. This may just be one of them.

The DS4 Racing (or Sport) will be specifically aimed at rivals such as the Audi S3, the VW Golf R and the Ford Focus ST or a future RS generation. It would be fitted with a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine with 200 PS (147 kW) and a 95 PS (70 kW) electric motor on the rear axle for an all-wheel drive sport model with a total of 295 PS (217 kW). That hybrid system is similar to the PSA Group's diesel HYbrid4 set-up or perhaps it will de derived from the new front-wheel drive hybrid system PSA Group is developing with BMW.

Citroën plans to bring the DS4 Racing to market sometime in 2013.

The DS4 is due in dealer showrooms in the middle of 2011.
