Audi has released a barrage of new details about the R8 GT.

Designed to be the ultimate road-going supercar, the GT features a matt titanium grille, a carbon fiber front splitter, LED headlights, and carbon fiber sideblades. Elsewhere, there's an aggressive rear diffuser, a carbon fiber rear wing, and exclusive 19-inch wheels.

The sporty cockpit boasts a flat-bottomed steering wheel, Alcantara upholstery, body-color accents, and matt aluminum door sill plates. Options include a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated seats, carbon fiber trim, and a bolt-in roll bar.

Power is provided by a 5.2-liter V10 engine with 412 kW (560 PS / 553 hp) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 26 kW (35 PS / 35 hp) and 10 Nm (7 lb-ft) from the R8 V10. Backed up by an R tronic transmission, the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).

The added performance is due in part to a 100 kilogram (220 lb) weight reduction. To cut the fat, engineers installed a thinner windshield, polycarbonate bulkheads, and fiber-glass reinforced plastic seats. All told, the R8 GT tips the scales at 1,525 kilograms (3,362 lb).

For razor sharp handling, Audi configured the all-wheel drive system to send 85% of the torque to the rear wheels (in normal conditions). Furthermore, the rear differential has a mechanical lock and carbon fiber ceramic brakes are standard equipment.

Production will be limited to 333 units and German pricing starts at €193,000.
