2009 Chevrolet Traverse introduced in Chicago. On sale in the fall of 2008.
Hoping to give consumers another alternative to traditional truck-based SUVs, Chevrolet is using the Chicago Auto Show to debut the 2009 Traverse. Based on the Lambda platform, which is shared with the well received Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook, the Traverse should reach dealer showrooms by the end of the year.
Powered by a 3.6L engine and offered with optional all wheel drive, the new CUV features unique sheet metal to help differentiate it from its siblings. Up front the crossover features modern Chevy design elements while the rear departs from traditional styling with rather interesting taillights and optional dual exhaust.
The interior takes many styling cues from the recently released Malibu sedan with similar touches such as a dual color dash that flows into the door panels. Options will mirror those already offered by fellow GM Lambda vehicles, but the Traverse will be the first to offer Bluetooth connectivity.
