Lotus has announced the 2011 Elise (facelift) has a CO2 emissions rating of 149 g/km - the lowest of any sportscar in its segment.

The achievement is due to the Elise's new 1.6-liter four cylinder VVT-I engine. Producing 136 PS (100 kW / 134 hp), the engine allows the 876 kg (1,930 lb) car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds). If those figures aren't impressive enough, the Elise returns 56.1 mpg (5.04 liters per 100 km) in the extra urban cycle.

Look for the 2011 Elise to start arriving at UK dealerships later this month.
