Could a new car from Panoz be on the way? If the automaker's founder is to be believed, the answer is yes. Find out more inside.

Panoz Auto Development plans to bring a new car to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.  The Panoz Abruzzi will be the company's first completely new model since the original Esperante launch in 2000.

For some, skepticism will be high, since the Abruzzi has been rumored for years.  The small American automaker's next car was believed to be either a GT1 or GT2 racer meant to compete with the Chevy Corvette.  Stories circulated that a street-legal version would cost less than $150,000, meaning it could possibly compete with the $106k Corvette ZR1.  With the exception of some renderings of the vehicle, Panoz has been rather tight-lipped about the project, leading many to believe that it never got off the ground.

The Abruzzi's upcoming appearance was confirmed by company co-founder Don Panoz during the 12 Hours of Sebring last weekend.  Hopefully, we will find out more about the car before its race debut.
